LCAA Holds Exploratory Talks with Turkish Airlines, Exploring Potential for New Flights to Liberia

The Liberia Civil Aviation Authority (LCAA) today hosted a delegation from Turkish Airlines for exploratory discussions regarding the potential for the airline to commence scheduled flights to Liberia.

LCAA Director-General, Mr. Julius Dennis, Jr., warmly welcomed the Turkish Airlines delegation, expressing enthusiasm for their interest in serving the Liberian market. He emphasized the significant economic benefits of increased air connectivity, particularly for the tourism sector, which is a key pillar of the Liberian government's development agenda. Director-General Dennis highlighted the potential for Turkish Airlines to leverage the presence of MNG Gold, a major Turkish investor in Liberia, to stimulate travel demand.

Mr. Aytekin Serbest, General Manager of Turkish Airlines in Accra, Ghana, provided an overview of the airline's extensive global network, currently serving 268 international destinations across 131 countries. He noted that Turkish Airlines operates 12 weekly flights to Accra and expressed optimism about the possibility of expanding its services to Liberia.

Mr. Serhan Uuushan, Chief Executive Officer of Bea Mountain, a major Turkish investor in Liberia, also participated in the meeting. Mr. Uuushan emphasized the significant benefits that Turkish Airlines' operations would bring to his company, particularly in terms of staff travel and logistics.

Both parties agreed that the formal process for granting Turkish Airlines an operating license in Liberia will commence upon the submission of a formal application to the LCAA.
